FAQ

  • Psychodynamic therapy is a type of talk therapy that explores how your past relationships and experiences influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors today. By understanding these connections, psychodynamic therapy helps you develop deeper insight into your emotional world and patterns, which can lead to lasting change and healing. Psychodynamic and relational therapies can be highly effective for addressing anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Through exploring past experiences, emotional patterns, and relational dynamics, therapy can provide insight, clarity, coping skills, and long-term healing. Contact us for a free phone consultation to see if we can be a great fit for your needs.

  • Relational therapy focuses on the interactions and dynamics between you and others, including your therapist. It explores how your relationships shape your sense of self, and how your beliefs and behaviors show up in your connections with others. This therapy creates a collaborative space where the therapeutic relationship itself can help heal and transform.

  • While our practice is centered on the LGBTQ+ community, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities. Our therapists can support anyone who is seeking a deeper connection to themselves or navigating personal challenges, including those related to identity. We aim to create a safer therapeutic space for those with marginalized and multiply-marginalized identities, including but not limited to folks in BIPOC, neurodivergent, poly, kink, trauma survivor, religious minority, immigrant, and disability communities. Our clinicians are part of several of the communities that we serve, and will be transparent about their own social location as it relates to your experience in therapy. We are aware of our limitations, and are always seeking to practice cultural humility in our attempts toward anti-oppressive work.

  • We are not in network with any insurance companies. We offer superbills to our clients on a monthly basis; many clients have had success receiving out of network reimbursement by submitting these superbills directly to their insurance company after paying out of pocket for services. Reimbursement rates are variable and plan-dependent, and we know that obtaining information can be frustrating. We are happy to talk you through the questions to ask your specific plan to get the information you will need. The cost of session is dependent on the clinician and type of service; visit [about us] to see our fees! All Neighborhood Therapy Group clinicians reserve limited sliding scale spaces in their practice for those with multiple marginalized identities to access therapy services. Whenever necessary, we are also able to provide referrals and outside resources to help you find the best fit for your needs.

Clients have the right to clear information about billing, including a good faith estimate against balance billing. For more information, please visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

We are able to move in-person appointments to virtual appointments with 24-hour notice.

  • Yes! Our clinicians specialize in supporting children, teens, and their families. This can mean individual sessions, family sessions, or a combination of the two. We can also see parents individually for ongoing treatment, though two family members will not have the same individual therapist.

  • In the case of a mental health emergency, text or call 988, or go to your nearest crisis center or emergency room. Our clinicians are not able to respond to crisis calls after hours.
